Michael Showalter/Alan Shemper – Wet Hot American Steesh

Michael Showalter Mustache Alan Shemper Wet Hot American Summer
I don’t post on here anymore but it has come to my attention that the preeminent mustache archive was lacking a very important one. One of the best parts of one of my very favorite movies. Enjoy!

The State Of Steeshes.com

Here’s what’s been going on, and some possible excuses for not having posted on this website for 8 months:

  • I got a new job
  • I don’t have Photoshop on my new work computer
  • There is actual work to do here
  • My desk is situated such that people can see what I am doing at all times, and I think a lot of coworkers take their shoes off because I never hear them coming up behind me.
  • I’m typing this in word and then I’m going to paste it in WordPress.
  • There are only so many people who have a mustache.
  • There is only so much you can say about how amazing each mustache is.
  • Any free time I encounter at work I spend listening to my office-mates talking about the weather.
  • This is something that was said just 1 minute ago, “It’s snowing outside. Was it supposed to snow today?”
  • If I had to guess, I’d say it was supposed to snow today seeing as it is snowing today..
  • It’s always cold in my office. Always.
  • I fear that my coworkers call me “Nips” or “PowerPoints” behind my back due to the previously mentioned cold conditions in my office.
  • How can my armpits sweat when it’s so cold in here?
  • I’m serious. I’ve used “prescription strength” antiperspirant before and that does nothing. It might have even made them more immune to other antiperspirants.
  • I often wear colors that mask the appearance of the sweat. I find white works best, and I make a point to only wear white shirts to weddings after a pretty embarrassing Blue-Shirt incident in the summer of 2011.
  • I moved.
  • I saw Nick Offerman’s American Ham again. I guess I really blew it by not posting about it.
  • I broke another toilet seat.

So yeah, things have been going on the past 8 months. You can understand why I haven’t posted anything.  I think I’ll start making some post soon that have to do with mustaches and whatever else seems like it might be appropriate.

Insert Me Anywhere: The Acting Styles of Dr. Tobias Fünke

Tobias Funke Insert Me Anywhere Mustache

Well this is pretty great. There is a new Arrested Development promotion out called Insert Me Anywhere and it features videos and pictures of Tobias Fünke (David Cross) in front of a green screen doing different stock characters for James Cameron to use in future movies. The list of characters include Cowpoke, Motorcycle Ruffian, Big Man on Campus (pictured above), along with a few more.

There are hours of fun to be had on this site. I wish I knew anything about editing video because there’s some opportunity there to get him in some fun situations. I had to settle for some photoshopping. Here’s Tobias’ Big Man on Campus character not giving a shit about the Saved by the Bell crew’s smashed up car:

Marc Maron and Dave Foley

Marc Maron and Dave Foley Mustache

Comedian and podcaster Marc Maron has a new show on Friday nights on IFC called Maron that has been on a for a few weeks. I was able to catch up on it this weekend and to my delight got to see both Maron and fellow comedian Dave Foley with a couple of nice steeshes.

Maron, much like Louis C.K.’s Louie, follows a fictionalized Maron. Even though it’s not as good as the old shows on the TGIF lineup, it pretty good entertainment for a Friday night show.

James Adomian – “Thinnest Mustache Allowable By Law”

James Adomian Mustache

James Adomian is a stand-up comedian and actor. I saw him last night at Zanies in Chicago and he was really funny. I’d heard him many times doing characters like Jesse Ventura and Huell Howser on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast (he also appeared on an episode of the TV show on IFC). He’s not only hilarious, he has a great mustache that he described as the “thinnest mustache allowable by law.”

Trying to tell someone that you think a comedian is very funny can be tricky. I can recommend you go see James Adomian this weekend at Zanies in Chicago because he’s the funniest live comedian I’ve seen since Hannibal Buress, while my cousin Bryan would recommend you go see Jim Belushi because he’s the funniest guy he’s seen since Frank Caliendo. You’ll just have to realize that I have a sense of humor and Bryan has an “According to Jim” poster in his basement.

Chappelle’s Steesh – Rick James

Dave Chappelle as Rick James

This is pretty much how I know Rick James, as played by Dave Chappelle. Thanks to Chappelle’s Show, a younger generation of people who have no business knowing who Rick James is can tell what his favorite drug was (cocaine).

Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman Feuding?!?!?!?

Robin Williams Mustache

Robin Williams heard that I posted Dustin Hoffman’s mustache from Hook last week and promptly grew a mustache of his own. No matter what you think of him, you’d have to admit it’s a nice looking tickler.

I have mixed feelings about Robin Williams. I remember watching one of his stand-up specials in high school and thinking, “Man that’s a lot of water bottles,” before falling asleep.

As an actor, he is all over the place. He obviously great in Mrs. Doubtfire and Jack but then you look at some of the other garbage he was in like Old Dogs and RV and you wonder how much does cocaine actually cost?

Katy Perry Mans Up On Ellen

Katy Perry Mustache Ellen

Katy Perry helped Ellen Degeneres celebrate her 55th birthday last week by coming on her show dressed as a male game show host. Male Katy hosted a game called “Grab Ellen’s Bust” which sounds inappropriate if you ask me. I wouldn’t know though. I turned off the video 30 seconds in because I was feeling embarrassed for some of the audience members and how excited they were getting.

Dave Foley – Steeshes In The Hall

"Freedom Writers" Los Angeles Premiere

I’ve been getting a lot of complaints lately that we are ignoring some people who fit in our key demographics – Canadians and fans of Blast from the Past. In order to satisfy both of those groups, here is Dave Foley.

Dave was a member of Kids in the Hall, the Canadian sketch comedy show. He was also on News Radio, a series that I once purchased in its entirety at Best Buy, only to sell a few years later for more than I paid for it. Thanks, Dave!

It’s also Dave’s birthday today. Happy birthday, Dave. We love you very, very, very, very, very, very, very much.

Judd Apatow Guest-Edited Vanity Fair, Likes the Steesh

Judd Apatow, famed writer, director and producer, can now also call himself a magazine editor. He took over the editing duties for this months Vanity Fair for their first ever comedy issue. It may be their first comedy issue but it is just another in a long line of Vanity Fair issues that I’ll never purchase.

Why is this relevant to steeshes? There are 3 covers and each one includes a beautiful mustache.

Demetri Martin – This Is A Mustache

Thanksgiving is great because people make me food and then I have 4 days off. That’s enough for me. The rest of the weekend I laid around watching things. One of those things was Important Things with Demetri Martin, which was a short-lived but funny show on Comedy Central. You can watch it for free on Netflix if you’ve already paid for Netflix.
